KAVU Take a Hike Hoodie — Roughin It

Not all hoodies are created equal. The KAVU Take a Hike Hoodie in Roughin It was made for the ones who actually use them — for cold starts at the trailhead, post-summit layering, campfire evenings, and the kind of effortless everyday wear that makes a hoodie feel less like clothing and more like a habit.

Built from 100% certified organic cotton fleece and cut in KAVU’s relaxed pullover silhouette, the Take a Hike Hoodie is the kind of piece that earns its place in the rotation immediately and stays there indefinitely. Heavy enough to keep you warm when the temperature drops, breathable enough to move freely on the trail, and soft enough that you’ll want to wear it everywhere else too.

Roughin It — a rugged, outdoors-ready colourway in keeping with the hoodie’s trail-focused name — brings natural, earthy character to a hoodie that was clearly designed with the great outdoors in mind.

Who Is It For?

The KAVU Take a Hike Hoodie is the right hoodie for anyone who spends meaningful time outside:

Hikers and trail runners: The organic cotton fleece manages warmth and breathability on variable-effort days — warm enough for rest stops and summits, not so heavy that it becomes a burden on the climb.

Campers: The go-to layer for campfire evenings — and unlike synthetic fleece, organic cotton handles the occasional spark without the melt risk that ruins technical fabrics.

Everyday wearers: The relaxed unisex fit and earthy Roughin It colourway make this as wearable in town, at the coffee shop, or on the school run as it is on the trail.

Travellers and adventurers: Lightweight enough to pack, warm enough to earn its space — the Take a Hike Hoodie is the single-layer solution for shoulder season travel and cool-climate adventures.

How to Layer It

The Take a Hike Hoodie sits perfectly in the middle of a three-layer system:

Base layer: Moisture-wicking merino or synthetic base layer (Volcom V-Science Crew or similar)

Mid layer (this): KAVU Take a Hike Hoodie — warmth, comfort, and breathability

Outer layer: Lightweight waterproof shell or the KAVU FZ Ripstop ThrowShirt for wind and moisture protection

Or wear it solo on mild days — the organic cotton fleece is substantial enough to stand alone in most three-season conditions.

About KAVU

Founded in Seattle in 1993, KAVU creates true outdoor wear for full-on fun fanatics seeking the next adventure. Every hoodie in the KAVU range is built around the same philosophy: make something well, make it from good materials, and make it work as hard in real life as it looks on a hanger. The Take a Hike Hoodie is a straightforward expression of that — a properly made organic cotton pullover hoodie with a name that means exactly what it says.
