The Burgtec Enduro MK3 Stem was built for exactly that reality — a precision-engineered, forged and CNC machined aluminium stem born directly from rider demands for a component that inspires confidence rather than doubt.

The Engineering Behind the MK3

Forged for Extra Rigidity

From the start of the design process, Burgtec wanted extra rigidity from the MK3 Stem. To achieve this, they made the stem using a forging process — applying a huge amount of force to redirect the grain flow of the aluminium material. The results: superior strength, fatigue and impact resistance, and a more intricate shape than machining alone. Taking design elements from the World Cup-winning Direct Mount MK3 Stem and splicing these with the Enduro MK2 Stem — the best of both in one precision component.

Increased Steerer Clamping Surface

Another area where Burgtec made a significant improvement in rigidity was by increasing the clamping surface area on the steerer tube to give a stout, rock-solid feel as close to the MK3 Direct Mount Stem as they could. The extra tall 41mm stack height distributes clamping force over more of the steerer tube for a locked-in, creak-free connection that handles the full force of aggressive enduro riding.

Stainless Steel Bolts

Everything is held securely by stainless steel bolts to ensure there is no rust even in the grimmest weather. A detail that matters in the UK’s infamous riding conditions — and everywhere else that sees regular wet weather riding.

Fully CNC Machined and Anodized

Every Burgtec Enduro MK3 is fully CNC machined and anodized — a quality finish that’s consistent, durable, and available in nine colourways to match any build.

Which Length Should I Choose?

Stem length is one of the most impactful cockpit choices for trail and enduro riding — shorter stems give quicker, more responsive steering and shift weight rearward, while longer stems provide more stability at speed and a more stretched-out position:

• 35mm — the most common choice for modern enduro and trail geometry; responsive, precise steering with weight firmly over the front wheel on steep terrain. Best for modern long, low, slack geometry bikes
• 42.5mm — the versatile middle ground; suits riders who want a touch more stability at speed or a slightly more stretched position than 35mm provides
• 50mm — suits older geometry bikes with shorter reach, or riders who prefer a more stretched riding position and additional high-speed stability

If in doubt, shorter is generally better for enduro — modern frame geometry is designed to work with short stems for the best balance of responsiveness and stability.

35mm vs 31.8mm Bar Clamp

The Burgtec Enduro MK3 is available in both 35mm and 31.8mm bar clamp diameters. Check your handlebar’s clamp diameter before ordering — 35mm is the modern enduro and trail standard, while 31.8mm suits older or XC-oriented bars. The two versions are otherwise identical in design, manufacturing process, and specifications.
