Where the Mushroom texture is tuned for comfort, the Knurl texture is tuned for control: a classic diamond-pattern grip surface, borrowed from decades of use on tool handles, that creates sharp, consistent traction under your palms without sacrificing the comfort tech built into the rest of the grip.

Knurl vs. Mushroom: Why Knurl?

Each diamond in the knurl pattern comes to a sharp point. That point is what generates grip, and its shallow profile gives it a firm, stable base — so instead of the fins collapsing or flexing under load (as a mushroom texture does), the knurl surface delivers immediate, positive feedback. It’s the texture of choice for racers and aggressive riders who want to feel precisely what the front end is doing, corner after corner.

Comfort Tech Where It Counts

A firm outer texture doesn’t mean a harsh grip. The Monarch Knurl still uses:

• Soft 20A rubber compound for a grip that’s firm on the surface but forgiving on impact
• Tapered, offset grip core — thicker rubber on top, thinner underneath — for damping over rocks and roots while keeping a lively, direct feel where your fingers wrap the bar
• Zigzag thumb pad — a zigzag (rather than straight-fin) thumb pad that resists the sideways “clicking” collapse you get from cornering loads, cutting down on hot spots and blister risk at the base of the thumb

An 8mm lock-on clamp with a 3mm Allen bolt keeps the clamp footprint slim, maximising usable grip area on a 130mm grip length. The grip core itself is also tapered internally so the bar-end sits marginally smaller than the bar diameter — the rubber bites onto the bar end and works with the clamp to shut down any twist or slip.
