The Peaty’s Monarch is built to be the world’s most serviceable MTB saddle. This version runs durable 4130 chromoly steel rails, paired with Throne Foam cushioning, a pressure-relief channel, and a fully removable rail assembly that strips down with just 2mm and 3mm Allen keys — so creaks, ticks, and worn parts get fixed, not replaced.
Every rider knows the story: a saddle fits perfectly, feels great for months, then starts ticking and creaking under pedaling load as dirt, dust, and water work their way into the rails and lugs. Usually there’s no real fix — you spray something on it, hope for the best, and eventually bin a saddle that’s otherwise still good. Steve Peat and the Peaty’s team built the Monarch Saddle to solve that problem at the source: a fully serviceable rail system that can be stripped, cleaned, regreased, and rebuilt using nothing more than a 2mm and 3mm Allen key.
This listing is the 4130 CrMo rail version — chromoly steel rails offering excellent durability and a slightly lower price point than the Ti-MX titanium alloy alternative, at a modest weight trade-off.
A bolt-on plate under the nose of the saddle covers the rail and lug assembly. Remove it, and the entire rail unit detaches from the saddle base for cleaning and lubrication — no more silent suffering through a creaky seat, and no more binning an otherwise good saddle over noise. Because the rails are a separate, replaceable unit, damaged or bent rails can also be swapped out individually rather than replacing the whole saddle, extending its usable life and keeping more of it out of landfill.
Riders spend more time climbing than descending, so the Monarch’s shape is optimised accordingly:
The Monarch’s cushioning — Peaty’s calls it “Throne Foam” — is tuned to support without feeling squishy, sitting on a flex-tuned nylon base that helps absorb trail chatter rather than transmitting every hit straight through the saddle. Reinforced, grippy bumpers on the shoulders add crash resistance and durability against knocks and scuffs on tight, technical trail.
An integrated grab handle built into the tail of the saddle base makes it easier to lift or hoist your bike over gates, fences, or on genuine hike-a-bike sections — a small detail that earns its place on real trail rides.
The Monarch is offered with a choice of two rail materials sharing the same profile and technology:
If outright weight isn’t the priority and you want a durable, dependable rail at a lower cost, the 4130 CrMo version is the practical choice.
Peaty’s backs the Monarch with a 30-day Rider Comfort and Performance Guarantee — ride it for 30 days, and if it isn’t right for you, it can be returned for a refund or exchange (subject to retailer terms).

What’s the difference between the CrMo and Ti-MX rail versions? Both share the same saddle profile and cushioning technology. The 4130 CrMo rail version weighs approximately 262g and costs less; the Ti-MX titanium alloy version weighs approximately 240g (about 22g lighter) and costs more.
How do I service the Monarch saddle? Remove the bolt-on plate under the nose using 2mm and 3mm Allen keys to access and detach the rail and lug assembly. This lets you clean, regrease, and rebuild the interface to eliminate creaks, or replace a rail if it’s damaged.
What riders is this saddle sized for? At 145mm wide and 260mm long, the Monarch is designed as a one-size-fits-most saddle suited to the majority of male and female riders across trail, all-mountain/enduro, XC, and gravel riding.
Does the saddle have any comfort features for long climbs? Yes — a 40mm-wide pressure-relief channel runs through the centre, the nose is flat for freedom of movement, and a subtle rear ramp gives support on steep seated climbs.
Is there a hike-a-bike feature? Yes, an integrated grab handle is built into the tail of the saddle base for lifting the bike over obstacles or on hike-a-bike sections.
Is there a guarantee if the saddle doesn’t suit me? Peaty’s offers a 30-day Rider Comfort and Performance Guarantee, allowing a refund or exchange if the saddle isn’t the right fit within that period.
