Tocsen Crash Sensor — Helmet-Mounted Crash Detection & Emergency Alert

Every time you ride alone, you take a risk. The trails don’t care. The mountain doesn’t care. But the people who matter to you do — and the Tocsen Crash Sensor makes sure they’re alerted fast if something goes wrong.

Engineered in Germany and now Europe’s best-selling helmet crash sensor, the Tocsen is a compact, lightweight device that mounts directly onto any helmet — cycling, snow, equestrian, or otherwise — and uses a high-precision accelerometer to detect when a crash has the potential to cause unconsciousness. When it triggers, you have 30 seconds to confirm you’re OK. If you don’t, it automatically sends your GPS location and crash details to your preset emergency contacts via SMS, the Tocsen app, and every Tocsen rescue community member within 1.8 miles.

It’s the device you hope you’ll never need. The one you’ll never want to ride without.

How It Works

Step 1 — Mount it. Attach the Tocsen to any helmet using the supplied adhesive pad. Recommended position: side or lower area of the helmet, behind one ear. Works on road cycling helmets, MTB helmets, ski helmets, and riding hats.

Step 2 — Set it up. Download the free Tocsen app (iOS, Android, and Huawei). Add your emergency contacts — unlimited contacts, all stored in the app. Takes less than 5 minutes to set up.

Step 3 — Ride. The sensor runs in the background via Bluetooth Low Energy, consuming minimal battery. Garmin and Apple Watch integration available — your watch vibrates when the sensor is triggered.

If a crash is detected: The sensor emits a loud audible alarm directly from the device — not your phone — so it’s heard even if your phone is in a bag or on silent. You have 30 seconds to cancel via the app if you’re OK.

If you don’t cancel: Automatic emergency alerts are sent — simultaneously — to your preset emergency contacts via SMS with a Google Maps link to your precise GPS location, via the Tocsen app to contacts with the app installed, and to all active Tocsen rescue community members within 1.8 miles (3km).

No signal? The Back Home Timer feature works without mobile internet connection and shares your last known position — a useful backup for remote trails and backcountry riding.

Who Is It For?

The Tocsen Crash Sensor is for anyone who spends time outdoors alone and wears a helmet:

  • Mountain bikers — solo trail riders, enduro riders, backcountry and uplift sessions without a group
  • Road cyclists — early morning solo rides, remote road routes, sportive training
  • Gravel riders — remote gravel routes where mobile coverage is variable and help could be far away
  • Skiers and snowboarders — off-piste, backcountry, and touring where falls can happen far from the piste
  • Horse riders — one of the most common users of Tocsen, given the significant crash risk and frequency of solo riding in remote areas
  • Hikers and trail runners — anyone who uses a helmet in remote terrain and wants a safety backstop
