Born from the most demanding downhill race trails on the UCI Mountain Bike World Series circuit, the Air-Liner Protect DH is the highest-protection tyre insert in the Vittoria range — engineered specifically to withstand the relentless, gravity-driven forces that separate downhill from every other discipline of mountain biking. Where the Enduro insert optimises for a balance of protection and handling, the DH insert goes further: maximum-density foam, maximum protection, maximum confidence on terrain that punishes anything less.

Under air pressure the insert collapses on the rim, creating a seal capable of withstanding even the strongest impacts — and when you do bottom out, the T-shaped profile deflects over the rim bead and absorbs the hit so your rim doesn’t have to.

What Makes the Air-Liner Protect DH Different?

Higher Density Foam. The DH insert uses a higher-density closed-cell polymer foam than the Enduro version — meticulously engineered to withstand the relentless forces encountered during high-speed descents, hard braking zones, and gravity-fed impacts that would damage lighter-density alternatives.

The T-Shape — Maximum Protection at Impact. The proprietary T-shaped cross-section sits upright inside the tyre, pushing outward against the sidewall without consuming excessive tyre volume. Under compression, the T-shape’s outer flanges deflect over the rim bead, absorbing the impact energy and creating a physical barrier between the rim and the tyre’s inner carcass — protecting against pinch flats, snake bites, and direct rim strikes simultaneously.

Complete Loop — No Cutting, No Zip Ties. Like the Enduro version, the DH Protect arrives pre-formed as a complete continuous loop. Installation is clean, fast, and repeatable — no cutting, no cable ties, no inconsistent joins.

No Rolling Resistance Impact. Under normal air pressure the insert collapses flat against the rim bed, out of the way of tyre deformation. The T-shape gives the tyre a larger effective air volume, contributing to a more natural tyre feel under load — and no measurable impact on rolling resistance during normal riding.

Who Is the DH Insert For?
