Vittoria Bicycle Inner Tube — Presta Valve 48mm

When you ride daily, reliability means everything. The Vittoria Bicycle Inner Tube with 48mm Presta valve is the classic, dependable inner tube that delivers exactly what every cyclist needs — consistent air retention, solid puncture resistance, and fuss-free installation, every single time.

Made from high-quality synthetic butyl rubber with a 0.9mm wall thickness, the Vittoria Standard offers a well-rounded combination of durability, air-tightness, and ride comfort that makes it the go-to choice for training rides, commuting, touring, and everyday use across road, gravel, and trail bikes. Butyl retains air reliably across multiple days and its robust construction means it can be safely stashed in a jersey pocket or saddlebag for roadside repairs without worry.

Key Features

Construction & Material

  • Material: High-quality synthetic butyl rubber — the most reliable and widely used inner tube compound for everyday cycling
  • Wall thickness: 0.9mm — the sweet spot between puncture resistance, weight, and ride compliance
  • Air retention: Superior air retention across multiple days — less frequent inflation needed compared to latex alternatives
  • Puncture resistance: Good resistance to pinch flats and road debris for confident everyday riding

Valve

  • Valve type: Presta (FV / Sclaverand valve) — the slim, lightweight valve found on the majority of road, gravel, and modern MTB rims
  • Valve length: 48mm — suitable for standard depth rims and most clincher road and gravel wheelsets
  • Valve core: Removable valve core (RVC) on standard 48mm versions — allowing sealant injection for tubeless conversion or easy valve core replacement

Sizing

  • Available in multiple sizes to suit road (700c narrow), road/gravel (700c mid), and mountain bike (27.5″ and 29″) tyre widths — select the correct size for your tyre when ordering

What Size Inner Tube Do I Need?

Selecting the right inner tube size is straightforward — match the tube size to your tyre size, which is printed on the sidewall of your tyre. As a guide:

  • 700×20/28c — narrow road tyres (20mm–28mm width), standard 700c road wheels
  • 700×28/42c — wider road and gravel tyres (28mm–42mm width), 700c road and gravel wheels
  • 700×40/52c — wide gravel and touring tyres (40mm–52mm width)
  • 27.5×1.95/2.50 — standard trail and enduro MTB (27.5″ / 650b wheels)
  • 29×1.95/2.50 — cross-country and trail MTB (29″ wheels)

If your tyre size falls within the range on the tube, it will fit. When in doubt, size up slightly rather than down for the best fit and ride feel.

Is 48mm Presta Valve Enough for Deep Section Rims?

The 48mm valve length is suitable for standard depth rims up to approximately 35–40mm in depth. For deeper section aero rims (40mm+), a 60mm or 80mm valve is recommended to ensure the valve extends far enough through the rim for a pump head to attach securely. If you ride deep section carbon or alloy wheels, check your rim depth before ordering.

Presta vs Schrader — What’s the Difference?

  • Presta (FV): Slim 6mm diameter valve, lighter weight, self-sealing design, found on the majority of road, gravel, and modern MTB rims. Requires a Presta-compatible pump head — most quality floor pumps and track pumps support both.
  • Schrader (AV): Wider 8mm diameter valve, the same type found on car tyres. Common on entry-level and older MTB rims with wider valve holes.

Always match the valve type to your rim’s valve hole size.
